Creating A Canva Account
Canva 101 | Lesson 1
Creating a Canva account is quick and really easy and before you know it you will be on your way to creating beautiful designs.
What is Canva?
I’ve always been drawn to graphic design but the cost of expensive software and having to complete formal studies to use it put me off. Canva puts graphic design within everyone’s reach without the need for expensive software or graphic designer training. So no matter whether you want to create a party invitation, need help with a school project or a work presentation, or just want to create something beautiful, Canva is the tool for you. It’s also so easy to get up and running and start designing that you’ll wonder what you ever did without it.
Creating a Canva account – the first steps
- Go to your web browser and type in Canva.com https://www.canva.com.
- Select Sign up for free and click.
3. You will then be able to select how you would like to create your account. You can use any of the following:
- Google;
- Facebook;
- Apple;
- E-mail;
- Phone or mobile number; or
- Microsoft.
Although Canva has 3 different plans I recommend selecting the free option to start your journey. It contains thousands of templates, fonts, elements and other design goodies for you to start creating before you decide to move across to Canva Pro or Canva for Teams. More about the different plans later.
4. I selected Continue with e-mail and typed in my e-mail address.
5. Canva will then send an authorisation code to your e-mail address. You will also need to create a password in Account Settings later or you can choose to go passwordless.
7. Once you have received the e-mail you’ll need to follow a few security steps to verify your account. The e-mail will also contain a confirmation code which you will need to complete the set-up process.
We’ve now created our Canva account and are all set to begin designing and creating!
I hope you have found this tutorial on getting started with Canva helpful and easy to follow. In the next lesson we’ll start to unpack the Home Page and how to get started on your very first project.
